Music: “Local Forecast - Elevator”, “Carefree”, “Wallpaper”, “Inspired”, “Fluffing a Duck” and “Monkeys Spinning Monkeys” by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), licensed under CC BY 4.0, converted to AAC for this page. The covers are made for this page. In the app, every track carries the mark of the service it plays from; these songs play from this site, so they have none.

    Two services, one queue

Your Spotify tracks and your YouTube Music tracks no longer need two apps. They line up in one queue, in the order you choose.

    Make it yours

The whole look is a theme. Ten ship with the app, and the community makes more.

    Make a theme

A theme is a folder with a theme.json: eighteen colours, the fonts and a corner radius. MixMusic draws everything with them, so a theme keeps working as the app changes. Let it follow your computer, with one theme for light mode and one for dark.

    Add a plugin

Plugins are ES modules that add pages, commands, track actions and widgets through a typed API, and install from the marketplace in one click, like a sleep timer or a spectrum on now playing. Every plugin can use the whole API, and MixMusic tells you so before you enable one.

    Download MixMusic

Free for macOS, Windows and Linux. Version 0.5.8; every file is on the GitHub releases page.

    What it needs

    YouTube Music
yt-dlp, which MixMusic installs for you from Settings › Playback, and a JavaScript runtime on your PATH: Deno, Node.js, Bun or QuickJS.
    Spotify
An app of your own from the Spotify developer dashboard, made with a Spotify account that has Premium. The guide walks through it.
    First launch
The macOS app is not notarized yet: open it once from System Settings › Privacy & Security › Open Anyway. The Windows installer is not signed yet: if SmartScreen warns, choose More info › Run anyway.
    Linux
GTK 3, and PulseAudio (which PipeWire serves too) or ALSA; signing in to YouTube Music takes WebKitGTK 4.1. On Debian and Ubuntu: sudo apt install libgtk-3-0 libpulse0 libwebkit2gtk-4.1-0. The Flatpak, for x64, needs only Flatpak, and brings the rest with it.

Check each file against SHA256SUMS in the release. Older versions are on the releases page too.

    Built in the open

MixMusic is open source under the MIT license or the GNU GPL, version 3: one small Go program built on MyGo, which draws its windows itself on the GPU, with no browser inside. Fixes, features, themes, plugins and reports of what does not work are all welcome.
